Key Takeaway
BoldTrail MCP is a connection that lets a supported AI assistant, such as ChatGPT or Claude, read and update an agent’s BoldTrail CRM from plain-language requests. The agent authorizes the connection and is responsible for reviewing what the AI does. It does not include BackOffice tools, and any time saved depends on how each agent uses it.

- Agents make requests in plain language.
- ChatGPT and Claude were supported at launch.
- BackOffice MCP is a separate connection.
- Connect it through the eXp Hub App Store.
- Agents should review every AI action.
- Time savings vary by agent and task.
BoldTrail MCP is a connection between an eXp agent’s BoldTrail CRM and a supported AI assistant. It lets the agent ask the AI to find information in BoldTrail or make changes there.
Many agents assume the AI does CRM work on its own with no review. Some also believe that connecting the front office CRM includes BackOffice transaction tools.
This article explains how BoldTrail MCP fits into the broader eXp Realty technology ecosystem available to eXp agents.
It covers what BoldTrail MCP is, what agents can ask it to do, how BackOffice access works, how to connect it, and what to check first:

What Is BoldTrail MCP?
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is an open standard that lets an AI assistant connect to other software and use it. BoldTrail MCP is the version built for BoldTrail, the CRM made by Inside Real Estate. It applies to eXp agents who use BoldTrail as their CRM. The agent types or speaks a request, and the AI assistant reads or updates BoldTrail for the agent. BoldTrail MCP does not change the CRM itself, replace the BoldTrail app, or move agent data out of BoldTrail.
BoldTrail MCP is one connection inside a larger eXp program. eXp announced MCP First, AI of Choice on October 8, 2026, with connections to eXp systems, Canva, and several CRMs. CRM connections depend on country availability and each CRM’s policies.

What Can Agents Ask BoldTrail MCP to Do?
Agents can ask the AI assistant to find information in BoldTrail or to take action in it. Information requests include a list of overdue tasks, a summary of notes on one contact, or contacts with no activity in six months. Actions include adding a note, setting a reminder, sending a text, updating a saved home search, or adding contacts to a campaign. After a showing, an agent could ask the AI to log the buyer’s feedback, set a call reminder for tomorrow, and widen the search for larger bedrooms in one message. The AI can only use data that exists in BoldTrail and that the agent’s account can access.
BoldTrail is one of the CRM options eXp agents can choose. This article covers only how the AI connection works with it.

Does BoldTrail MCP Include BackOffice Tools?
BoldTrail BackOffice MCP is a separate connection from BoldTrail MCP. BackOffice is BoldTrail’s software for transactions and brokerage operations. Inside Real Estate announced AI assistant access to BoldTrail BackOffice in August 2026, before the front office connection launched in October 2026. In demonstrations, BackOffice MCP prepared transaction documents, sent them for e-signature, and checked transaction status.
Connecting the front office CRM does not turn on BackOffice access. Access depends on the brokerage’s systems and the agent’s permissions. eXp agents submit transactions through SkySlope transaction management, so agents should confirm with eXp which BackOffice workflows apply to them. Any contract or disclosure still follows the broker’s approval process.
How Do eXp Agents Connect BoldTrail MCP?
eXp agents connect BoldTrail MCP from eXp Hub. Open the App Store, select the MCP tab, find BoldTrail, and follow the steps to connect it to ChatGPT or Claude. Sign in with the BoldTrail login eXp provides to authorize the connection. Then open the AI assistant and turn on the BoldTrail connection before making a request. Setup screens vary by AI provider and account plan. Connecting does not change the agent’s contacts, campaigns, or CRM settings. The same MCP tab lists other eXp connections, such as My eXp and Canva.
eXp Hub is eXp’s private platform for agent communication, groups, and tools. Its App Store is where eXp lists the MCP connections it offers.

What Should Agents Check Before Using BoldTrail MCP?
Before using BoldTrail MCP, agents should confirm what the connection can read and change in their BoldTrail account. They should also decide which actions need their approval before they run, especially texts and emails to clients. Data handling involves two companies: Inside Real Estate for BoldTrail, and the company that makes the AI assistant. eXp’s data privacy guidelines and the broker’s directions apply to every use. Some things stay fixed, such as client data living in BoldTrail. Other things change over time, including which AI assistants are supported and which actions are available. Agents should test a simple request and confirm what works in their own account before relying on it.
The 4-Hour Time Savings Estimate in Context
During a BoldTrail MCP webinar, a transaction coordinator at a 21-agent brokerage estimated that agents there save about four hours a day. He described a 10-hour day shrinking to six. That figure combined BoldTrail MCP with the Streams app, and it was one representative’s estimate. It is not a measured average across eXp agents. The time he described came from specific tasks: planning the day, logging notes after showings, and tracking lead follow-up. An agent who spends 20 minutes entering showing notes each evening can test that one task first. Results depend on how complete the CRM data is and how long review takes.
What Agents Also Ask
Which AI assistants work with BoldTrail MCP?
ChatGPT and Claude were available at launch in October 2026. Inside Real Estate said it runs quality checks before enabling each assistant, and Gemini support was still under review at that time. Connector features can also depend on the AI plan the agent pays for.
How is BoldTrail MCP different from the Streams app?
Streams is BoldTrail’s own mobile app with built-in AI that suggests who to contact and what to say. BoldTrail MCP lets an outside assistant, such as ChatGPT or Claude, work with BoldTrail. Both use the same CRM data, and agents can use either one or both.
Can BoldTrail MCP access MLS data?
BoldTrail MCP works with data inside the agent’s BoldTrail account, such as contacts, notes, tasks, and saved home searches. Saved searches use the listing data BoldTrail already receives. The connection is not a direct MLS login, and MLS rules on listing data still apply.
Why This Matters
BoldTrail MCP adds AI to the CRM an agent already uses, which makes setup help part of the brokerage and sponsor decision. At eXp Realty, all agents receive the same core brokerage platform, including compliance, compensation, and access to company divisions. What differs is the sponsor ecosystem an agent aligns with.
The sponsor an agent selects shapes which tools, training, and attraction systems they have access to, including how much guided help they get putting AI connections like BoldTrail MCP into daily CRM work. Agents weighing that choice should ask about AI support alongside the Smart Agent Alliance team value a sponsor brings.
